Florida Black Bear
January 13th in DeBary, Florida around 9 P.M. Aydee, a Florida native, was walking her dog up her driveway. Moments later she was attacked by a Black Bear. Neighbors came to her rescue not realizing they were also her demise. The neighbors had seen a mother bear and cubs walking near the houses, so they began to yell and scare the bears away… Which resulted in the mother bear running in the direction of Aydee’s house. The bear, unknowing it was running straight into Aydee and her dog, did what any mother bear would, protect her cubs.
She explained, "I’m an animal lover too, but those are not my friends. She was trespassing at my house. I was not in her territory. Two more years and we will be in the same boat." "I was screaming and going to my neighbors to see if he can call 911 or help me or take out a gun," Aydee told the local news. Thankfully Aydee and her dog are fine. Unfortunately the mother bear had to be euthanized. Florida Fish & Game decided the 3 bear cubs were old enough to survive on their own.
