The Best Damn Sandwich In Los Angeles
LA has a new spot in town and it is mind blowing. Katsu Sando located in Chinatown, has brought an incredibly authentic Japanese curry on the scene. Los Angeles is already a hub for some of the best food in the nation. I don’t say this lightly, this is one of the best damn sandwiches you will eat in this city. The restaurant offers fried pork, fried chicken, shrimp, and a snow crab sandwich. The sandwiches are followed with a curry for dipping your sandwiches into. This is the best curry I have had in the states. This is not an understatement. The simplicity with the incredible flavor of the A5 Wagyu curry is as close to perfection as it gets.
The Snow Crab Korokke fried with nama-panko, topped with tobiko trio: orange, black, wasabi, with aonori tartar, and herbs. When it was first handed to me, I was at a loss for words due to the joy of knowing this would enter my stomach. This sandwich is only available on the weekends. Their ability to perfectly fry the crab was absolutely mind blowing. The Tobiko Trio (roe) added such an explosion of flavor that I was scraping out every little bubble of roe that had fallen off the sandwich. The Snow Crab sandwich was well worth the hour drive into the city. Truth be told, I nearly ordered a second snow crab to take home.
I haven’t experienced curry quite as good since my wife and I were in Japan. Katsu Sando is 100% the real deal for a Japanese curry sandwich. Even if you reside outside of Los Angeles, I highly suggest making the drive to the city to treat yourself to one of the best up and coming restaurants in the city.
Not only do they make some of the best sandwiches in the city, they also have Katsu Curry Plates on the menu.
